My attempts at Photography - Part 1 - Sunsets and such like

Photography has always been of interest to me. My earliest memories of photos were seeing some of Ansel Adam's and Henri-Cartier Bresson's work in a book.

The striking black and white images of Aspen, the gold sale in China and many more. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of most of them. But do go to a library near you to look at the great photographs.

My first camera was a hand me down B&W film camera and I have vivid memories of using it. Of course in those days I understood nothing about light and backgrounds etc and my first roll ended up being shots of dark faces with a very bright background behind.

The interest continues and while the cameras have become better, my photography remains .....!!!

I will let you decide for yourself.

This first series is those of sunsets shot in Nevada, Orlando, NJ.

Watching sublimity

Have you ever watched something and realised that what you are watching is sublime and somehow beyond words ?
The two disciplines that I have seen this in more often than others is in music and sports.
For tennis fans - is there anything better than watching Federer in full flow ? Not for me.
For cricket fans - the magnificent offside touch play of David Gower and the allround shots of VVS Laxman spring to mind.
And who cannot but watch in amazement at the running talent that is Usain Bolt !!! More on this man at another time.
I cannot finish without acknowledging the silken voices of Sonu Nigam, Mohd. Rafi. Magnificent !!!!
Suffice it to say - watching or listening to sublimity is an honour and a pleasure. Thoughts ?

Yankees on a roll

It has been so many years since the Yankees have looked so good that I have almost forgotten this feeling.
Not jinxing them here I hope :-(. The pitching looks good - finally !!!!! After the years of paying for crazy and useless pitchers - did the management finally get it right ?
We will find out in October !!!
